Dr. Kathryn A. Smith is the CEO of EduWork. LTD a consulting group that provides materials and resources for teacher professional development. Dr. Smith’s recent activities have included the development and conduct of an international course on 21st century instruction for international teachers, administrator and ministry staff for iEARN and OAS education section, the development of an accelerative learning week workshop for an inner city charter school, managing instructional with Google Education applications and numerous workshops on mobile technology. Dr. Smith has recently retired as a Professor of Instructional Technology and Educational Foundations at the University of Minnesota – Bemidji. Dr. Smith’s teaching also included teaching at the University of Illinois, Eastern Illinois University, Iowa State University and seven years high school teaching. An example of Dr. Smith’s virtual instruction experience would be the development and delivery of a Graduate Program for Instructional Technology for Minnesota State University - Bemidji. Delivery included interactive television, podcasting and the internet. Additional examples of Dr. Smith’s instructional technology achievements include, selection as an Apple Distinguished Educator - 2000, fifteen years of service as a presenter and program chair - Association of Teacher Education (ATE) technology committee, Web coordinator - Digital Equity Special Interest Group, International Society for Technology (ISTE), invited presenter for the Oxford Round Table, writer and director of a 1.5 million dollar federal grant, “Preparing Tomorrow’s Teachers to Use Technology” and recent invitation to provide technology inservice for the education faculty of the University of San Diego and the Wisconsin INTERACTIV conference. Dr. Smith has been involved in a variety of international instructional experiences. Examples include an invitation to provide a seminar on Outcome Based Learning for a country wide initiative in Bermuda, was the invited keynote presenter for the Gifted and Talented Conference in the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi and was the graduate course coordinator for a Fulbright grant that led 15 teachers to China for five weeks.
